About this book
Fatimah Is Ali gathers more than 140 very short stories from the lives of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra and Imam Ali. Written by Ali Qahramani and first published in Persian as Fatemeh Ali Ast, each episode runs to a page or two, so the book is easy to read aloud or dip into.
The stories are arranged in four sections. 'Birth of Two Lights' covers Imam Ali's birth in the Ka'ba, the early days of Islam and the birth of Fatimah. 'Union of Two Seas' tells of the proposal, the modest dowry raised by selling Ali's shield, and the wedding. 'Story of their Life' collects scenes from their home: sharing the housework, raising Hasan and Husayn, feeding the needy, the Mubahala and Ghadir. 'Longing for the Beloved' moves from the Prophet's passing and Fatimah's grief to Imam Ali's later years and martyrdom.
A gentle introduction for families, young readers and anyone new to the household of Ali and Fatimah. Published by Mishkat Publications, 2024; no translator is named.
