Description
The Marsiyah: Martyrdom of Imam Hussain is a poem about the sacrifices made by Prophet Muhammad’s grandson Husayn ibn Ali and his family at Karbala and the political, religious, and social consequences of the event. Prophet Muhammad’s family was massacred by fellow Muslims who had succumbed to political expediency and personal gain. It is possible that their participation in the horrendous event was due to ignorance and lack of consciousness regarding the message of the Prophet. This Marsiyah recounts the story of the event. The poem particularly focuses on its untold consequences.
